1654 Society

Our Board

The 1654 Society is composed of a Supervisory Board, an Advisory Board and an Academic Council. The Supervisory Board is composed of members from both Congregation Shearith Israel's Board of Trustees, as well as the 1654 Society's Advisory Board. The 1654 Society Advisory Board and its Executive Committee are responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Society.

1654 Society Advisory Board
The 1654 Society Advisory Board is led by co-Presidents Ivan Berkowitz and Sam Katz. Members hail from diverse locations across America; including New York, California and Florida. They are drawn from leaders representing the historic preservation world, New York's arts, museum and culture scene, academia and as well as the finance, travel, real estate, internet, law, manufacturing and media industries.
